Herbs to support ageing

Herbs I Use in Clinic to Support a Healthy Aging Process

Natural support for energy, focus, skin, sleep + more

Aging is a natural process, but that doesn’t mean we can’t support ourselves through it. In clinic, I work with a range of medicinal herbs that gently nourish the body over time — not quick fixes, but powerful allies for feeling clear, steady, and well-resourced as we grow older.

Here are a few of my go-to herbs for clients navigating the aging process — particularly those noticing shifts in energy, sleep, hormones, or focus.

1. Ashwagandha

Calm + Hormone Support

Ashwagandha is a deeply grounding herb I often turn to for clients experiencing stress, hormonal changes (especially around perimenopause and menopause), or disrupted sleep.

  • Helps the body manage stress more effectively

  • Encourages deeper, more restorative sleep

  • Gently supports hormonal balance over time

It’s a steadying presence — ideal for those who feel depleted or stretched thin.

2. Turmeric

Inflammation + Joint Health

Turmeric is well-known, but its value in long-term wellness can’t be overstated. I love using this golden root for:

  • Reducing systemic inflammation

  • Supporting joint health and mobility

  • Benefiting brain and heart function

A beautiful ally for those wanting to stay active, mobile, and mentally sharp as the years go by.

3. Gotu Kola

Skin, Veins + Mental Clarity

Gotu Kola is one of my quiet achievers. It’s often underestimated but incredibly supportive when it comes to:

  • Strengthening collagen and skin elasticity

  • Improving circulation, especially in the legs and veins

  • Enhancing focus and memory

It brings a brightness and clarity that many clients find deeply supportive, especially in brain fog or post-illness recovery.

4. Ginkgo

Brain + Circulation Support

One of the most well-researched herbs for aging support, Ginkgo is best known for its effects on the brain and circulation:

  • Increases blood flow to the brain

  • Supports memory and cognitive function

  • May help reduce forgetfulness over time

It’s a powerful herb for staying mentally alert and present — especially useful if you’re noticing small lapses in memory.

5. Sage

Menopause + Memory

Sage is a gentle, everyday herb with a surprisingly wide reach when it comes to aging, particularly for women in midlife.

  • Helps reduce hot flushes and night sweats

  • Offers mild brain and memory support

  • Works well long-term when taken consistently

It’s often overlooked as a therapeutic herb, but in the right doses, it’s incredibly supportive.

Aging is Natural — But Support is Powerful

These herbs don’t override the body’s natural rhythms. They work with you — slowly, consistently — to help you feel grounded and well as your needs shift with age. Whether you’re in the midst of perimenopause, feeling more tired than usual, or simply curious about supporting your health naturally, there’s a herbal path that can meet you where you are.
